This is the end.  My only friends.  The end.  Of my elaborate plans.  The end.  Can’t you picture what could’ve been?  So limitless and free.  Desperately in need . . . of some . . . stranger’s hand.  In my desperate land.  It hurts to set you free.  But you’ll never follow me.  This is, after all, the end.    Keep reading . . .

Staying the Course

Way back in Vindication! I shared an email I had received from a former law firm colleague.  He expressed his encouragement and remarked at my ability to stay the course in the face of many challenges and opposition.  And criticism from commenters.  I haven’t heard from him since, but while channel surfing tonight after work, I stumbled across a program on C-SPAN’s Book TV that featured Nobel Prize winner Muhammed Yunus discussing his latest book Building Social Business: The New Kind of Capitalism That Serves Humanity’s Most Pressing Needs, followed by CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo discussing her book The 10 Laws of Enduring Success.  Both were fascinating presentations and they got me thinking a bit about the beginning of my blogdom experience and my commitment to see it and myself through these challenging times.  Keep reading . . . .

One Week In

Roughly one week on the job.  And the island.  And I’d say I’m settling in fairly well.  At work, the criminal trial, mentioned in Court, began in earnest today.  I don’t think I’ve ever participated in a trial—in any capacity, including as an observer—from the very beginning to the very end.  The only drawback to working for the court is that all the other tasks we’ve got before us gets shelved for however long we’re away from our desks.  In an ideal world, I’d go back to my desk after court each day and put in another few hours working on cases.  But that didn’t happen yesterday or today.  At least today I had an excuse.  Keep reading . . .

I had to get in to the contract attorney position for 8am tonight because they temporary attorney staffing agency is moving me to a new space.  Back in Calgon Take Me Away I noted how they had moved me twice within the same week.  Today’s move makes this move number six since I started in January.  Keep reading . . .

Everything Converging

Total Black: $3.53
Total Red: $237,154.80

Total black is back down in the bargain basement.  Sort of like my meal purchases over the past day or two.  And but for the kindness of strangers over the past few days, like Office Manager for example, I probably wouldn’t have eaten.  The bulk of my income has all been allocated toward costs associated with the relocation for the clerkship.
