Another long day of work in New York City.  It started around 7am this morning and didn’t end until after 3am the next day.  After the nice afternoon yesterday, discussed in A Nice Afternoon, I ended up having pay back today the time taken from yesterday.  Keep reading . . .

It’s May Day.  The day nearly everyone else in the world celebrates labor.  But not here.  In the United States it’s Loyalty Day today.  Did you proclaim your loyalty yet?  Keep reading . . .

Today was a very long day.  And it started with a headache.  I woke about four times this morning, hitting snooze each time.  I had intended to get to the contract attorney position early—before a 10am shift at the theatre.  But that just didn’t happen.  It’s odd too because, as I noted in Bubbles Galore, the same thing happened last week: waking with a headache.  I wonder what the connection is between weekends and headaches.  This one was a doozy and didn’t get better until quite late. I spent the entire day working at New World Stages.  I started off the day at The Gazillion Bubble Show in the morning.  Then Avenue Q for the matinée performance.  I had intended to head to the contact attorney position once I finished up at the theatre, but then I got a chance to usher a new show, The Temperamentals, in the evening.  So I took it.  I’ll put those hours in tomorrow that I would have done today.  Glad I saw the Temperamentals tonight.  Got me thinking. Today will be my last day working at New World Stages—at least for a month or so.  Two shows will close today: The Toxic Avenger Musical and Love ChildAltar Boyz will close on January 10, 2009.  For the next month or so, only Avenue Q and the Gazillion Bubble Show will be the primary two shows performed at the location.

Once the new season starts, management assured me they’d call me back to resume working at the theatre.  More than a few ushers and management told me that I’m one of their favorite new hires.  That really feels good to hear.  It’s not something you’d hear from lawyers.  Keep reading . . .
